Our Programs

At Little Wonders we place children in classes according to their age and ability. Each class has an experienced teacher that is able to build on the knowledge of the individual child by encouraging inquisitiveness, natural curiosity, and creativity. Children will learn foundation science, maths, reading and writing, through a mixture of age appropriate learning methods. Children also have the opportunity to interact with other children of a similar age.

Each month there is a new theme, which all classes incorporate in to their individual learning programs, at an appropriate level for the children in that class.

Themes For Learning

At Little Wonders, our teachers undertake a variety of planning exercises – they produce long term, medium term, weekly and individual plans for the children in their classes. Although we do undertake a large amount of planning, it is always flexible and is tailored to the needs of the individual children we work with. Whether your child attends full time or part time, they will be given the opportunity to experience a whole range of activities, that cover all of the Early Years Foundation Stage areas of Learning and Development. This will provide them with the best outcomes to progress towards or exceed the early learning goals.

The themes we choose to cover primarily reflect the children's interests, but we also have themes that cover the seasons, celebrations around the world – such as Eid, Diwali, Christmas or Chinese New Year, and much more! We will also have some themes which are based on a particular book – for example, The Gruffalo, Mr. Gumpy's Outing or We're Going on a Bear Hunt... We will also have themes that are very open, and allow the children to follow a number of different outcomes that are of interest to them – such as 'Water' or 'Boxes'.

Over the course of the year we ensure that children are encouraged to question and explore the themes and that they explore different areas within the theme itself. We also try to provide children with the opportunity to make choices within the safety of our 'learning environment'.

Progress is tracked in a number of ways. Our teachers carry out regular observations – these are incorporated in to the teachers planning. We also have progress trackers, called 'Early Learning Journey Folders' which follow the child throughout their stay at Little Wonders – these contain pieces of your child's work and photos, which are annotated by the teacher, stating how they relate to the EYFS Curriculum!
